1. Nº 54.23 Madrid, 24 de noviembre de 2023 AUSTRIA. NUEVAS TARIFAS DE PEAJE

4. cents/km (Reduction of up to 0.8%) can be used. Note : Higher rates apply on the special toll routes. Increased toll on the A 13 and A 12 between Kufstein and Innsbruck As a co-financing contribution for the construction of the Brenner Base Tu nnel, a surcharge of up to 25% will be levied on the base kilometer on the A13 Brenner motorway and the A12 Inntal motorway from the state border at Kufstein to the Innsbruck/Amras junction. How are toll fees collected? At around 400 points along Austrian motorways and expressways, arches above the road w ill collect information on the vehicles in conjunction with the device in the vehicle (GO-Box ). The fees are debited based on the kilometres driven. Thanks to automatic microwave communication between t he vehicle and the toll arches, there is no need to stop, move into a specific lane or set a specific speed limit. Vehicles whose maximum permissible total weight exceeds 3.5 tonnes may only use mot orways and expressways if they are equipped with a GO-Box. The device must be in the veh icle before entering Austria. GO Box The toll is automatically deducted in the appropriate amount depending on the registe red number of axles of the vehicle. Surcharges, special toll rates and time-based toll rate differentiations are debited without the driver having to do anything. The GO-Box is tied to a specific license plate, set to a specific emissions cl ass and is attached to the windshield with an adhesive strip. The GO-Box can be picked up at over 200 sales po ints (at motorway service stations, in the secondary road network, in foreign countries near the bo rder) within a few minutes upon presentation of the registration certificate and a minimum payment of € 80 ( € 75 credit, € 5 system fee). If the GO-Box is returned after transiting through Austria, the unused cre dit will be paid out; only the € 5 system fee will be retained. The credit remains valid for two years. Payment methods Pre-pay procedure: Pre-payment of the toll credit at sales points (petrol statio ns, rest stops) by topping up the GO-Box using cash, credit cards or ATM (80.00 to 500.00 euros). Post-pay procedure: After registering with ASFINAG (the toll operator in Austri a), the toll can be paid using credit cards, fuel cards or direct settlement with ASFINAG via a bank account. Enforcement There are stationary and mobile control systems that photograph all trucks and buses. B y comparing data, it is possible to filter out toll evaders (vehicles without a GO -Box, with an incorrectly set number of axles or without credit). Toll supervisory auth orities will collect a replacement toll (€ 120 or € 240 depending on the offense). Alternatively, the supervisory authority can initiate ad ministrative criminal proceedings, which can result in fines between € 300 and € 3,000. The vehicle can also be forced to stop. 3. Austria: New toll tariffs (“Lkw und Bus - Maut”) in 2024 What is the toll about? Starting on 1 January 2024, toll fees in Austria will be based on different criteria compared to today: distance, axle configuration , Euro emission class and CO 2 performance and will be levied on motorways and expressways for vehicles with a maximum permissible technical mass of over 3.5 t onnes . This essentially affects trucks and buses, but also heavy mobile homes. The mileage-element of the toll only applies to motor vehicles or buses with m aximum permissible technical mass is above 3.5 tonnes. Trailers are only taken into account when calculating the number of axles for trucks. The toll obligation applies to all road users (both nationals and foreigners). Toll system The cost of the toll will depend on the distance traveled, the number of axles, the engine's Euro emi ssion class and the CO 2 performance of the motor vehicle. Special toll routes will have higher tariffs. There are five rate classes , considering the Euro emission class of the vehicle: Tariff group Euro emission classes E Vehicles with purely electric or hydrogen fuel cell drive A Euro VI B Euro V and EEV 1 C Euro IV D Euros 0 to III CO 2 classification Starting on 1 January 2024, the vehicle's CO 2 emission performance will affect the toll to be paid . There are different rate levels by CO 2 class. Electric/hydrogen vehicles will be in CO 2 class 5 (most favourable); trucks first registered before 1 July 2019 and buses are in the most expensive CO 2 class 1 (least favourable). For classification into classes 2 to 5, documents must be submitt ed to ASFINAG .
